Jamie xx has delivered his first new tune in over a year – a tropical club banger called IT’S SO GOOD – which comes as the soundtrack to Chanel’s new Coco Crush campaign.
Described in a press release as “a subtly euphoric anthem that builds over four and a half minutes of stop-start tension and release”, IT’S SO GOOD follows on from the release of Jamie’s two 2022 singles, LET’S DO IT AGAIN and KILL DEM.

Jamie is currently hard at work on his second solo album, the follow-up to his 2015 effort In Colour. Last January – while he was in Australia to perform at a string of summer festivals – he confirmed the as-yet-untitled album was nearing completion. “I’m in ‘finishing mixing’ mode,” he said in a triple j interview, “and I can’t take any longer.”

He went on to note that the songs on the album “have been years in the making”, adding: “I realise that I am just slow and that’s okay. I’ve actually really been enjoying the process of it.”
Nevertheless, Jamie’s next solo album should feature a handful of choice collaborators, including one iconic Australian outfit many of his fans will be stoked about. In the same interview, he dropped the bombshell: “I worked a bit with The Avalanches before the pandemic for their last album and then we sort of carried on.”
Meanwhile, Jamie’s band, The xx, are also gearing up for a new album. Right at the end of 2023, frontwoman Romy Croft shared the news that the band are currently slaving away on their fourth album together. Incidentally, that mic-drop also came during an Australian tour – there must be something in the water here that just makes artists more talkative than usual...
