The British songwriting wunderkind will hit both coasts for his headline performances this July
Prodigiously talented UK singer-songwriter Jake Bugg has lined up three headline Splendour In The Grass sideshows for his visit to Australia this July, teaming up with Manchester five-piece Blossoms for two of them.
The pair of acts will complement their appearances at Splendour by hitting Sydney and Melbourne together, respectively, first playing the State Theatre on Tuesday 26 July, then the Palais Theatre on Wednesday 27 July. From there, Bugg will carry on solo to Metro City, in Perth, for a show on Friday 29 July.
Despite being only the tender age of 22, Bugg already has three studio full-lengths to his name, starting with his breakthrough 2012 self-titled debut and encompassing 2013's Shangri La — recorded in Malibu with Rick frickin' Rubin — and this year's On My One, due for release on 17 June. This is a performer who has almost never known anything but acclaim for his work, and there's no reason to believe that's likely to change any time soon when he lines up to please Aussie audiences at his shows on both coasts.
Blossoms make fitting stagemates for fellow upstart Bugg, the band having already knocked over lauded performances at Reading & Leeds, T In The Park, Latitude and Festival No. 6 in the past 12-18 months or so. Their performance at Splendour and these shows will be their first-ever appearance Down Under, so expect the band to be looking to put on a hell of a party when they bring their shimmering, infectious brand of pop-rock goodness to our shores in a couple of months.
