Jack Johnson is reportedly receiving court-ordered protection from a fan he alleges is stalking him.

The singer-songwriter, filmmaker, and former professional surfer filed a restraining order against the fan, with a court granting the temporary order yesterday.

The decision to file the restraining order came after Johnson alleges he was confronted by the woman at his hotel after a show.

TMZ is reporting that court documents they've acquired reveal further information on the nature of the alleged stalkers' actions writing "According to new legal docs, obtained by TMZ, Jack claims the woman travelled to Houston, Texas on Aug. 26 and got in his face at his hotel ... and the interaction was so frightening, not only for Jack but also for the bandmate who saw it all go down, Jack and his band bounced until cops came and detained the woman."

TMZ also indicate that the court documents reveal "Jack is worried for his safety" due to the ease of tracking his movements, given the public nature of his role as a musician. He also notes that the woman has been "hounding him for years" and that his legal team has sent her "several cease and desist orders to no avail".

Johnson's filing also states that the alleged stalker often buys VIP packages to his shows in order to get closer to him,  and frequently emails his management claiming to be the victim of a long-term financial scheme.

The temporary restraining order also provides protection for Johnson's son and wife.

A multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter, Johnson will be making his return to Australia this November and December performing a series of shows across the country at open-air venues.

The tour is in support of his latest studio album, Meet The Moonlight, and kicks off on the 29th of November at Perth's Kings Park and Botanic Garden before heading to the new HOTA Amphitheatre on the Gold Coast, Brisbane's Riverstage, the Forecourt of the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne's Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

Speaking to The Music earlier this year, Johnson revealed that he considers his wife Kim, his most important critic.

We've been together since we were 18 years old. I wouldn't have even followed the path of playing music if it wasn't for her. Sometimes she's the closest thing I have to a co-writer or an editor. I'll show her a new song, and then she'll tell me the part she likes the most, and it's always been like that. She had a cooler music collection when we first met, so I trust her ear more than my own sometimes.

Shes the only person I can take criticism from – its funny. We have a pretty good way of working together. We kind of joke that she's like my assistant, and then some days, I'm her assistant. We're really good at playing backup for each other.”
