Iva Davies Recovering After Emergency Procedure

Icehouse recently had no choice but to reschedule their headlining appearance at By The C in Perth after vocalist Iva Davies came down with a sudden illness, but yesterday, the band revealed what Davies was going through in a statement.

On Friday, 28 April, the band and By The C told fans that Icehouse wouldn’t perform at the event that was scheduled for the following day due to Davies’ sudden illness. There’s good news, though, as the day and the other artists on the line-up – Birds Of Tokyo, Eskimo Joe and Sneaky Sound System – will join the band on the rescheduled date this Sunday, 7 May.

Iva Davies said in a statement issued yesterday, “I arrived in Perth early last week as I was keen to have a few days R & R and play some golf.

“However, I ended up spending most of Wednesday and Thursday at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Emergency Department and had a surgical procedure on Friday, which meant I was unable to play on Saturday, which I know was not the news the 6000+ people who were coming to the show wanted to receive.

“My team has been working overtime with the Zaccaria team to reschedule this show with this incredible line up.

“And I’ve been recovering and getting myself ready to come back this weekend to play on Sunday.

“Thank you for all the messages of support.”

It’s been rough going for the band in recent months: Icehouse were forced to cancel their Melbourne and Brisbane Great Southern Land shows last minute after Iva Davies contracted COVID. They were rescheduled for a few months later.

“After what has been a very concerning few months since I contracted Covid-19 and lost my ability to sing for several weeks, I’m pleased to say that my voice has returned,” Davies said in January.

Back when Icehouse postponed the shows in November, Davies stated: “As with so many other Covid sufferers, the effects of the infection are lasting a lot longer than I hoped. The difficulties I am having with breathing mean that I cannot sing for the duration of an ICEHOUSE performance... I want to thank everyone who has sent well-wishing messages for my recovery."
