More Incubus More Incubus

Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd has revealed the US heavyweights are working on a "couple" of projects as they celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fan-favourite album, Morning View, this year.

Speaking on a new episode of The Green Room With Neil Griffiths podcast ahead of his original artworks being exhibited in Sydney this week, Boyd said the California outfit have been "doing weekly band Zoom meetings for the last, like, year or so" and were planning to embark on a world tour in support of the Morning View milestone prior to the COVID lockdowns.

"It was a very successful record for us and it was... it kind of thrust us onto the world stage," Boyd told host Neil Griffiths.

"We were planning this year on touring around the world... maybe next year."

When asked about a follow-up to Incubus' 2017-released studio album, 8, Boyd discussed the plans in place.

"I know the guys are gonna get itchy to start writing music. Any day now, if they're not already," he said.

"We're working on a couple of Incubus projects that I can't really divulge the details of right now, unfortunately. But they do involve stuff that people will be able to listen to and consume in the very near future. But it's not, like, new material. Not yet at least.

"But I say all that and sometimes we get together for two weeks and albums happen. So, it's just a matter of the circumstances, I suppose."

Boyd added that if Incubus were to release a new record, it would "likely" be in 2022.
