Icehouse Announce Sydney Opera House Forecourt Show With Sneaky Sound System & Karen Lee Andrews

Icehouse have announced an “On The Steps” summer gig that will find them headlining the Sydney Opera House Forecourt on Tuesday, 12 December, with support from special guests Sneaky Sound System and Karen Lee Andrews.

While 2022 marked the 40th anniversary of one of Icehouse’s most significant hits, Great Southern Land, 2023 celebrated the 50th birthday of Australia’s most renowned music venue, the Sydney Opera House. This landmark brings even more excitement about playing at the venue to Icehouse vocalist Iva Davies.

“The band and I are greatly looking forward to performing at Sydney Opera House in December,” Davies commented in a press release. “Having such a great line-up with Sneaky Sound System and Karen Lee Andrews is going to make it a fun evening down on Sydney Harbour.”

Davies added, “I’m also glad that we will perform in the 50th anniversary year of Sydney Opera House, with which I personally have a long history, having played in an orchestra in July 1973 at the first performances in the then-new building of two operas, Sitsky's 'Fall of the House of Usher' and Penberthy's ‘Dalgarie’. In addition to being the first operas ever performed at Sydney Opera House, these were very special events as the operas were created by Australian composers and librettists and performed by Australian musicians and singers.

“I look forward to performing yet again at Sydney Opera House and bringing ICEHOUSE’s music to the forecourt.”

Tickets to Icehouse’s On The Steps show go on sale on Friday, 8 September, at 9 am AEST, with the My Live Nation members pre-sale beginning on Thursday, 7 September, at 9 am and running until 8 am the following day.

Miss Connie and DJ/producer Angus McDonald, the masterminds behind Sneaky Sound System and their 2000s dance music hits such as UFO, I Love It, and more recently released their new single, Fire Keeps Burning, in collaboration with producer John Dahlbäck.

Meanwhile, Karen Lee Andrews’ soul, gospel and Polynesian roots immediately placed her above her time on The Voice Australia – where she reached the finals – to a musical connection she’s forged with fans and the music community alike.
