Hozier sent Australian fans into a frenzy yesterday morning (March 11), teasing on social media that after five long years away, he would finally return Down Under for a tour later this year. Now, he’s come good on the promise and announced seven epic shows for November.
The local leg of the Unreal Unearth tour – named for Hozier’s third studio album, which arrived last August – will kick off in Perth (Boorloo) on Wednesday November 6, when the indie-folk icon will perform at RAC Arena. He’ll head to The Drive in Adelaide (Kaurna) next, playing there on Friday November 8, before rolling on through to Torquay (Wadawurrung) on Sunday November 10 to headline a gig for the Summersalt concert series.
Hozier will perform another Summersalt gig on Saturday November 16 – this one in the Hunter Valley (Wonnarua) – but not before playing the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne (Naarm) on Tuesday November 12, and Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney (Gadigal) on Friday November 15. And to wrap it all up, he’ll perform at the Riverstage in Brisbane (Meanjin) on Monday November 18.
Opening for Hozier at all seven shows will be Arizonian singer-songwriter Joy Oladokun. This tour will mark her first time ever performing in Australia, riding hot on the heels of her own 2023 album Proof Of Life.
Tickets go on sale on Monday March 18 at noon local time via Live Nation, following a Mastercard presale that kicks off on Wednesday March 13 at 11 am local time, and a Live Nation presale on Friday March 15 at noon. Head here to sign up for the presale, or bookmark this link for the general sale.
In an interview with TheMusic.com.au's Carley Hall, Hozier said of the wide scope of themes explored on Unreal Unearth: “Sometimes they can be personal reflections, or maybe at times, deeply personal reflections or experiences of past experiences. But once it's once it's done, and once it's out in the world, it also belongs to everyone else. And the way I view it is if something resonates with you, it most likely is going to resonate with somebody else.”
