Metallica are finally returning to Australia and New Zealand in November 2025, today announcing highly anticipated, speculated tour dates.
The M72 World Tour—named after the band’s 2023 album 72 Seasons—will stop in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, and Auckland. The tour marks their first Australian dates since headlining Soundwave Festival in 2013.
While many of the band’s 2024 shows featured the band playing “in the round,” for this tour, Metallica’s stage will be at the end of the stadiums, with the band’s iconic “Snakepit” extending from the front of the stage.
And the tour won’t just see Metallica perform down under—they’ll be joined by Evanescence and Suicidal Tendencies, two regular visitors to Australia with dedicated fanbases.
Of course, with a band of Metallica’s size, there are multiple ways to purchase tickets, with pre-sales, VIP experiences, and the general sale announced today. Read on to find out about ticketing, venues, and more ahead of the highly anticipated tour.

A portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to local charities via Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands.
The foundation was established in 2017 to give back to communities that have supported the band over the years. To date, All Within My Hands has raised over $15 million USD, with $8.2 million USD going to grants in career and technical education programs such as the ground-breaking Metallica Scholars Initiative, which is now in its sixth year.
Another $3.6 million USD has gone towards combatting food insecurity, and more than $3.5 million USD to disaster relief efforts.
While a majority of Metallica’s 2024/2025 M72 World Tour has consisted of their No-Repeat Weekend setlists – where they played in the same city for two nights and mixed up their setlists each night – the Australian and New Zealand dates are billed as a One Night Only tour. However, whether or not extra dates are added due to demand is another story.
