Here’s Why You Don’t Want To Miss ‘Til The Wheels Fall Off

Wheels? Tasmania? Things falling off? Sounds like a ripper weekend, and that's exactly what you'll find at Tassie's all-punk, all-party 'Til The Wheels Fall Off festival this year.

Entering its third year, the festival is the work of Luca Brasi legends Tyler Richardson and Patrick Marshall, running over three days in Launceston and showcasing some of Australia's rowdiest punk acts.

The line-up is always stellar, and this year is no exception, featuring Luca Brasi, Bodyjar, Hockey Dad, Alex Lahey, Ceres and so many more at Workers Club from Nov 4 -6.

Although it was a pain-staking task to pick only five (seriously, every act is awesome), here are some ‘Til The Wheels Fall Off bands you need to check out.

Ceres

Ceres' dark, edgy pop is highlighted by their unabashed, unashamed approach to alternative sound. Since the Melburnians formed in 2012, they've made their way through an impressive roster of live shows and new music, including their second LP, Drag It Down On You. The band's slightly nostalgic sound is one that'll have you singing along to songs you've never even heard before. Written amidst a time of personal change and touring, the album is a certified rock-fest.

The Hard Aches

The noisy duo from Adelaide will be bringing their thrashy rock to Launceston with a bang off the recent release of their EP I Freak Out. The band hyped up a storm when they dropped their music video for Gut Full. On top of all this, they recently announced a sweeping national tour, set to sweat up a storm in national cities across the country. Having already set themselves up as South Australian punk favourites, the band are definitely NOT one to miss. Definitely don't pick their set to grab another round of bevvies for your mates, you'll want to be full-bellied and buzzed-up to get groovy to their tunes.

Hyder Seek

From the second they released their debut indie-punk track Armed With The Past, Hyder Seek have been front and centre on our radar. Lead singer-songwriter Bec Stevens absolutely kills it fronting a like-minded band to complement her previously-released debut solo works. After playing a string of national tour dates as well as a sold-out show at Adelaide's Fat Controller, the band have the kind of sound that sticks in your head long after the festival is over. You'll want to check them out before they become the next big thing. Be that guy.

Knife Hands

Riding off the high of the release of their EP The Doomsday Book, this Hobart five-piece are slowly earning themselves a solid spot in the current roster of touring aussie musos. With a string of East-Coast tour dates set up for October as well as already supporting bands like Northlane, these guys have more wit than you can throw a knife at. It's no wonder they've already had the nod of approval from fellow Tassie legends Luca Brasi, so make sure you get down there to see what all the fuss is about.

Hannahband

A self-proclaimed loud, sad, angry, emo punk outfit, Hannahband made themselves known fairly early on for their unashamed sound and their gritty lyrics. The Sydney duo have already nabbed a portfolio of soundtracks behind them with the release of Quitting Will Improve Your Health earlier this year. They're currently making waves around the country with their relentless live show and their infectious attitudes. Their trip down south is sure to be one to remember.
