Because two Harvests are better than one...
The final announcement of bands who will be making up the 2012 Harvest Festival along the east coast of the country this November has been made this afternoon, with a series of international acts covering a wide spectrum of indie-leaning styles set to hit the country for this year's festival (as well as one Aussie act).
The other big news to come out of the Harvest camp this afternoon is news that there will be a second Harvest event for Melbourne revellers following the sell out of tickets for the first event. The second show will happen on Saturday 10 November, the day before the first, in the same venue of Werribee Park.

The latest additions:
SILVERSUN PICKUPS:
A band we've been expecting to see on a festival line up at some stage this season, Silversun Pickups will show Harvest crowds how their Neck of the Woods record is translating to the live stage this year. The much-lauded Los Angelinos will certainly deliver a loud but dreamy wash of guitars to proceedings and will hopefully blow us away in much the same way they have on their previous couple of visits.
DEXYS MIDNIGHT RUNNERS:
The return of Dexys Midnight Runners is one that people may have been anticipating for all the wrong reasons. This year's One Day I'm Going To Soar, the band's first record in 27 years, is no exercise in nostalgia; it's a man in his late-50s writing pop songs from his current perspective. If their Harvest shows are anything like the gigs they have been doing overseas of late, you can expect a bunch of old classics as well as the new material when they're here towards the end of the year.
CRAZY P:
So the first thing you should know about Crazy P is that they were formerly known as Crazy Penis, and it was under that name that they had their initial success. Australia has always been pretty solid ground for the band popularity wise and they will no doubt be capitalizing on that when they are here for Harvest, lending some (perhaps needed) electronic leaning music to the bill that has been assembled thus far.
LOS CAMPESINOS!:
This sprawling Welsh indie ensemble have been pumping out quirky, noisy indie-pop jams for over half a decade now and seem to be slowly but surely gaining a bit of a foothold in the wider indie-rock scene with each release. Their fourth (or third, if you ask the band – it's complicated) record Hello Sadness has been their most popular thus far, but their back catalogue is close to faultless so whatever the seven members of Los Campesinos! pull out for Harvest is gonna be alright by us!
RIVER CITY EXTENSION:
A practically unknown entity in Australia, River City Extension have found themselves on a very nice wicket for their next jaunt over here; playing along some of the today's hottest indie band's as a part of the Harvest festival. It's gotta be said, they suit this bill better than the Soundwave line up they were a part of earlier in the year. This rather lyrical New Jersey eight-piece play a very palatable brand of indie-folk that sits nicely among the likes of Arcade Fire, Manchester Orchestra and other freewheeling indie fare. Check out their new record Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Your Anger to get a better idea of what they bring to the table.
DARK HORSES:
No, not the group who backs up our own Tex Perkins, Dark Horses are a relatively new British outfit who have started causing a real stir among some of their country's most renowned tastemakers and have started building a bit of a name amongst the public with some big name support slots. The band's music and general steez is dark, a gothic punk undertone runs through just about everything they do; all we can say is that we hope they're ready to feel the heat when they're decked out in leather on the Harvest stage this year.
WINTER PEOPLE:
This six-piece Sydney group makes up the Australian contingent of the Harvest bill this year, and it's pretty damn good timing for them. Winter People were unearthed a couple of years back and have been working mighty hard since then to ensure their debut album, which is out in a couple of weeks, will be as good as it can be and will land with an audience ready and waiting. How will they match it with the big guns on Harvest?
