Three years doesn’t sound like an unreasonable amount of time between new music, especially when there’s been a global pandemic, but it’s a while when it comes to successful pop artists we’re used to hearing on the radio.
Guy Sebastian’s new song, I Chose Good, has finally arrived after the singer teased the single earlier this month. He announced new music was coming by uploading a video on social media to share the news.
Sebastian said, “I’ve got some exciting news. I am finally releasing some new music – it’s been about three years since I’ve released new music.”
He added, “I’ve got a brand new single called I Chose Good – I wrote it in LA with [Sydney-based artist] Chelsea Warner and Oak Felder [songwriter and record producer for Demi Lovato, Alessia Cara, Rihanna, Sabrina Carpenter] – what a team! I can’t wait for you guys to hear it; you can actually pre-save it now or pre-add it; it’s officially out August 18th.”
I Chose Good has arrived with a lyric video, and in typical current-day Guy Sebastian songs, it’s a pop-meets-soul track in the fashion of Black Eyed Peas’ Where Is The Love.
The choir section complements Sebastian’s immense vocal range and adds colour to an already positive single. Watch the lyric video below.

“The song talks about taking my mum’s advice on board: ‘In choosing your life partner, avoid the drama. Choose someone who's your teammate but will also call you on all of your downfalls, someone who will be honest with you, someone who you never stop laughing with,’” Sebastian explained in a press release.
He revealed that “Every time I’d ignore that sound advice, I’d find myself in a bind, and I definitely made some mistakes along the way before I found The One.”
Upon releasing his October 2020 album, TRUTH, Sebastian told The Music, “I've got this new sense of purpose in the way that I write and the way that I make music.”
Featuring some of his biggest hits, including Choir, Before I Go, and Let Me Drink, The Music discovered that the former was one of the most streamed songs by an Australian artist in 2020.
