Frontierer turn up the extreme chaos again with 'Glacial Plasma'

Frontierer continues to be one of the heaviest, most ridiculous math-metal bands around with 'Glacial Plasma.'

Scottish extreme masters Frontierer write and perform totally insane math-metal songs that sound like a warzone is happening between your ears. I've always had a soft spot for their "what if Car Bomb but even more ridiculous?" approach to things. 'Glacial Plasma' fits that very same description, yet there's nothing "glacial" about it.

This is a too fast, too furious piece of chaotic yet introspective metal about pain and hate, brought to you by a host of sentient DigiTech whammy pedals. My favourite part of 'Glacial Plasma' is the 20 or so glitchy seconds of sole reprieve you get at the two-minute mark, the only form of shelter you receive from the hectic sonic hurricane happening outside. This is all before the band some-fucking-how contort an already bludgeoning instrumental into an even more demented form with its dissonant, laser-sounding guitars. I have no idea how vocalist Chad Kapper keeps up with his bandmates, let alone how these dudes even bloody play live.

Frontierer's third album, 'Oxidized,' arrives October 1st, their first new album in three years since 'Unloved,' and will feature appearances by Kevin McCaughey of Ion Dissonance and Grady Avenell of Will Haven. Fuck yeah! Check out this cool mini-doco on the band, A Trail Of Noise, in the meantime.
