Frank Ocean Has Cleared All Of His Social Media Profiles

Frank Ocean has gone and done what all artists do when they're about to announce something big; he's cleared his social profiles. Complex Music first spotted the change in Ocean's Instagram yesterday, quickly posting about it on twitter.

Usually when an artist of this calibre starts to re-vamp their socials, it means something big is brewing. And that something big is usually a new album. 

Taylor Swift wiped her IG in 2017 before posting a serpent to represent her forthcoming album Reputation, one the biggest brand overhauls of her career. Beyoncé undertook a similar overhaul ahead of both Lemonade in 2016 and her newest album Renaissance. Both Kanye West and The Weeknd also cleared their IG's before the release of their albums Donda and Dawn FM, respectively. 

It's clear that in an era where marketing is everything, and fans look to artists to create cultural movements, deleting everything from social media is the ultimate move to let fans know that a new era is coming. It signifies a shift in the artist's life or musical artistry that can often mean that their best work is just around the corner. 

Fan have also theorised that the mass-clearing could relate to his lifestyle brand Homer, which recently earnt some traction after it listed a diamond 18-karat gold cock ring for sale, totalling at $25,570 USD. The clearing could mean a new product line or announcement for the lifestyle brand, however the actual brands Instagram remains untouched, with all of its previous post still visible. 

More likely is the idea that Ocean is getting ready to release his third studio album. Especially as the artist was confirmed to headline Coachella in 2023 by the festivals co-founder Paul Tolletti in a Los Angeles Times Profile. Tolletti details that he understands It's unusual to release the headliner way before the full line-up, but he argues that fans deserved "some reassurance after the chaos and uncertainty of the last year and a half." Ocean has yet to confirm Tolletti's announcement. 

It has been six years since Frank Ocean's last release, Blonde, and ten years since Channel ORANGE. Both albums have been revered as some of the best in the last decade, earning Ocean an impossibly strong and eager fanbase that are restless for new music.

Only time will tell, but we're going to cross our fingers and toes, just in case.
