British rock band Foals will be taking a well-earned break at some point in 2023.
After dropping their seventh studio album, Life Is Yours, earlier this year, the 2am group have been touring non-stop and even headlined The Other Stage at Glastonbury this year.
Next year, Foals will headline another one of the UK's largest festivals, Reading & Leeds festival, alongside The Killers, Sam Fender, Lewis Capaldi, Imagine Dragons, and Billie Eilish. The twin-site event will see acts perform over a three-day weekend.
Vocalist Yannis Philippakis caught up with NME upon their addition to the line-up and said, "We probably won’t play any other UK shows, so anyone who wants to see us should come to Reading & Leeds." The singer added, "Other than that, we’ve got some time off in early 2023, which will be great. We’ll probably just rest and recuperate because this tour has been awesome but quite long."
While Foals probably won't be getting into writing sessions next year, the band could share other projects, such as Life Is Dub, the Dan Carey (producer for Black Midi & Fontaines D.C.) remix album of Life Is Yours.
Philippakis noted, "We should down tools for a bit and just enjoy where we are in our lives for a minute and stretch our legs creatively."

"Closing the ("fucking ripper" - as promised) set with Inhaler, Philippakis asked everyone to crouch down, and even the shirtless bros got down off their mates' shoulders to then jump up at the crescendo," The Music's Jessica Higgins wrote after seeing Foals at the Hordern Pavilion in 2019.
"Foals came back on and delivered What Went Down, which was explosively good, and Philippakis was back in the crowd without needing any encouragement. They played The French Open, which begins with such an exceptional riff. The song is the perfect vessel to showcase their unique talent and pace. None of the upcoming album’s songs made the setlist, but the infectious, slick sound of Part 1 is making fans thirsty with anticipation for Part 2. They finished up the encore with Two Steps, Twice, and the crowd left the building on a high. If you find yourself out of beans, scientists say a Foals gig provides 93% more energy than a regular flat white."
