Two shows while they're here for Soundwave.
Another massive Sidewave has been announced this afternoon, this one an absolute treat for those lovers of punk rock with something of a rootsy bent.
Flogging Molly are one of the world's foremost Celtic punk rock bands and since 1997 the Los Angeles based seven-piece have worked tirelessly to provide their huge fan base with aggressive punk rock, sombre tales of woe, pirate-themed shanties and, basically, music that's fucking good to get drunk to.
Chicago's The Lawrence Arms have smashed out their tasteful brand of solid punk rock since the late-90s as well, earning them plenty of support over the years with five great records to their name thus far. They haven't put an album out for around six years now, so one would hope they are planning on something soon, but for now we're just happy to have The Lawrence Arms back on Australian soil and to have them playing a couple of theatre shows is just magic.
Lucero are one of those perennially underrated bands that just about every songwriter worth their salt absolutely adores. The gravelly voiced Ben Nichols has taken this hardworking band through thick and thin for almost 15 years and across eight records, their latest effort Women & Work just another example of his incredible songwriting and the band's exceptional ability to make those songs sound so damn tough and so damn good.
