The team at Secret Sounds have announced the second edition of their latest festival, Heaps Good, expanding beyond Kaurna/Adelaide to fill the gap left this year by the Falls Festival hiatus.
As the same team announced back in May, the multi-day Falls Festival – which runs annually over the New Year’s period – will not return in 2023, citing the need for “a break” to “re-imagine how Falls will look in the future”. Falls had never before been held in South Australia, but Secret Sounds launched Heaps Good in Adelaide as somewhat of a spin-off, hosting many of the acts appearing on the 2022/2023 Falls lineup (such as Arctic Monkeys, Peggy Gou, CHVRCHES and Jamie xx).
With no Falls events being held anywhere this year, Heaps Good will fill the gap with new editions in Victoria and Queensland, as well as the returning Adelaide instalment. As festival producer Paul Piticco said in a press statement, “The inaugural Heaps Good was such a great day and we’re thrilled to take it on the road to more music lovers around the country over the coming New Year. Heaps Good is all about keeping it simple... single-day shows in convenient locations with great artists and your best mates.”
Heaps Good 2 will kick off at Naarm/Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Sunday December 31, followed by a show in Gubbi Gubbi/Sandstone Point on Tuesday January 4, 2024. It’ll then end with the returning Adelaide Showground edition on Saturday January 6.
The festival’s lineup is yet to be announced, with info supposedly coming “soon”. Prospective punters are encouraged to sign up to a mailing list for the first word, as well as access to presale tickets – you can do that here.
