The recap video shows the highlights of his sell-out tour that played out to 200,000 thousand Aussies, from crowd singalongs, pyrotechnics and McCartney brandishing an Australian flag in Sydney.
“We love Adelaide, we love Melbourne, we love Newcastle, we love Sydney, we love Brisbane, and we love the Gold Coast – I know where I’m going!” McCartney says to his crew’s laughs. You can watch the recap video below.
Paul McCartney wrapped up his Got Back Australian tour on 4 November at Heritage Bank Stadium on the Gold Coast. “Vocally, McCartney is consistent, controlled and carried superbly by the band,” The Music reviewer Genevra Siciliano declared in a review of McCartney’s Adelaide concert. “Get Back, Let It Be, the pyrotechnics-fuelled Live And Let Die, and the phenomenal Hey Jude (where the house lights come on to highlight the audience’s impressive sing-a-long efforts) lead us to the encore. By now, the realisation kicks in that it really is Paul McCartney, in all his splendour, up on that stage.”
Meanwhile, in Melbourne, The Music’s Guido Farnell pointed out that “At 81, McCartney defied age and simply blew the crowd at Marvel Stadium away with an epic three hours of tunes that showcase an illustrious career that is the stuff of legend.”
On the last night of his tour, The Music’s Jessie Lynch watched on as Paul McCartney proved to be a “testament to the enduring spirit of rock 'n' roll”. She added, “The night was not just a concert but a journey through the evolution of modern music – McCartney as the consummate guide.”
