'My Favourite Faded Fantasy' is released in November
Acclaimed Irish troubadour Damien Rice is eyeing off a return to the spotlight as he prepares for the release of his eagerly awaited third studio full-length, My Favourite Faded Fantasy, and theMusic.com.au is proud to bring you this exclusive look at the making of the album.
Due out on Friday, November 7, My Favourite Faded Fantasy is Rice's first new collection of work in eight years, since 2006's acclaimed 9 LP — itself preceded a full four years earlier by 2002's breakthrough work O — though he's kept busy in the interim with live albums and collaborative work, ensuring My Favourite Faded Fantasy comes from the hands and mind of a musician still at the peak of his game. The new full-length was produced by Rice and the legendary Rick Rubin, whom Rice sought out on the basis of "what I didn't know about him, rather than what I did".
"For some reason, I just had a feeling that I would feel comfortable being open and being me and being vulnerable with Rick," Rice said of the collaboration.
From Los Angeles, Rice and Rubin headed to Reykjavik, Iceland, where Rice gathered up some local musicians to help him bring the new work to life among probably the world's most picturesque recording environment.
