"Hopefully in the next couple of years is what we're trying to do."
Fans have been waiting for almost seven years for the members of seminal US indie-rock band Pavement to take up arms together once again. Several false starts and rumours about reunion tours have persisted since their last joint appearance in 2010.
However, guitarist Scott Kannberg — presently better known by his pseudonym Spiral Stairs — has seemingly confirmed that the wheels are in motion for that long-awaited confluence of the ways to actually happen, even if the details are still pretty sketchy.
"There will be [another reunion]," Kannberg told The Music in a recent interview on Spiral Stairs' new album, Doris The Daggers. "I can't tell you when, but everybody has said yes, they will do it.
"So, hopefully in the next couple of years is what we're trying to do; it's just a matter of getting everybody's schedule's together."

Despite the long stretch of time since the band last properly played together — and the fact that fellow member Bob Nastanovich had previously alluded to the fact that there had been previous fruitless attempts at pulling together a reunion — Kannberg and childhood friend/fellow Pavement founder Stephen Malkmus have shared a stage in the time since Pavement made a proper appearance.
The former joined the latter's band, The Jicks, for a special one-off at Los Angeles' El Rey Theater back in 2014 and, more recently, at Kannberg's 50th birthday celebrations in San Francisco last year.
