Evanescence Announce '20 Years Of Fallen' Australian Tour

How often do you jam and sing along to these bangers: Bring Me To Life, My Immortal, Going Under, Tourniquet and Everybody’s Fool?

This August and September, you can sing the words to those iconic songs with Evanescence, who are heading to Australia to celebrate 20 years of their legendary gothic rock debut album, Fallen.

A critical and commercial triumph, fans can now witness highlights from the gothic beauty of the 2003 debut release and a career-spanning set of fan favourites. The American rock band’s return to Australia follows their 2018 visit with local symphony orchestras.

As this is a Fallen tour, tickets won’t last long – the Early Bird pre-sale begins on Tuesday, 30 May, at 9 am local time. You can sign up for pre-sale access here. General public tickets go on sale on Thursday, 1 June, at 9 am local time via Destroy All Lines.

Hitting the Top 10 charts in multiple countries upon its release, including Australia and a #1 in the UK, Fallen sold 10 million copies in the US alone, with over 17 million copies sold worldwide and officially reaching diamond certification in late 2022.

While Fallen’s dark, luscious atmosphere influenced many in the rock sphere, the album also ultimately set the scene for a long-term legacy from the Arkansas-hailing group, who are now in command of five studio albums including 2021’s powerful and intimate outing The Bitter Truth which debuted at #3 on the ARIA chart, which marked the band's highest debut in 15 years.

It hasn't always been smooth sailing, though. In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Evanescence vocalist Amy Lee shared why she didn’t perform the band’s classic Bring Me To Life for years.

In 2002 and 2020, the band performed the track once. They played it three times in 2009, four in 2015, 18 in 2021, 19 in 2016, and 30 in 2006. For such a huge song, it’s somewhat surprising that the popular American band didn’t play the hit every single night.

But it speaks to how vocalist Amy Lee felt about that infamous rap verse, performed by Paul McCoy of 12 Stones, being forced into the song by Evanescence’s record label.

“I stopped performing it a long time ago,” she admitted. “We never really did perform it. When we're on tour, and we have somebody that fits into that spot, they jump up on the song.”

She continued, “We were on tour with P.O.D, and we had Sonny [Sandoval, vocalist] get up a few times. And obviously, if we're ever in the same town as Paul [McCoy, 12 Stones vocalist], who originally did the part, we will have him come up, because it's fun and it's cool and nostalgic. 

"But that part, that sound, that's not my style. That's why it was such a difficult pill to swallow, even on one song. But we won because we didn't have to change our whole sound.”
