Elton John Hospitalised Overnight After A Fall

Elton John spent the night in hospital after falling over in his French villa. Luckily, the Rocket Man is already back at home and was only treated for minor injuries.

He was taken to the orthopaedic unit of the Princess Grace hospital in Monaco, which isn’t far from John’s villa in Nice – the singer and pianist has been spending the summer in France with his husband, David Furnish, and their two sons.

“Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure,” a spokesperson for Elton John told the BBC in a statement. According to the spokesperson, John was admitted to the hospital “following a slip yesterday at his home in the south of France.

“Following check-ups, he was immediately discharged this morning and is now back at home and in good health.”

John’s summer holiday in Nice follows the artist’s long-running Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which came to an end after four years on the road, trying to say goodbye to all of his devoted fans around the world. John performed his final tour date on 8 July in Stockholm.

“I’ve had the most wonderful career… beyond belief,” John said at his final show, per NME. “Fifty years of pure joy playing music… how lucky am I? I wouldn’t be sitting here… if it wasn’t for you.

“You bought the singles, the CDs, the albums, the cassettes… [and] more importantly, you bought the tickets to the shows. You know how much I love to play live. It’s been my lifeblood to play for you guys. You’ve been absolutely magnificent.”

As of 18 June, the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour was named a touring artist's most successful run, grossing $910.4 million, per a recent Billboard Boxscore report.

Elton John was the first artist to take over $800 million in January, beating a previous record set by Ed Sheeran’s Divide tour. Now the first artist to earn over $900 million, John is ahead of Sheeran ($776.4 million) and U2’s 360 tours ($736.4 million) by $134 million.
