Questlove also shared a snap of Cloud to his Instagram alongside the caption: “Fez was the spiritual center [sic] of Euphoria and definitely my fav character on the show. Love to his entire family and to those who knew him. #AngusCloud.”
Kid Cudi shared his heartbreak over Cloud’s death with a message that simply read: “This hurts man. One of the realest dudes in this business. Fuck.”
Kehlani also posted a heartfelt message via Instagram that read: “Sat for a long time. U fucked the whole world up, but you really fucked everybody at home up. it’s a deep one. not too many words when it’s this close to home. not many words when it’s a bigger conversation. i ain’t got much more to say except the real person was more complex & more solid than a tv character. that person deserve to be remembered in totality. hugging all my patnas from back home.. direct your prayers towards his mother, his family. love you brudda. energy never dies. long live you 🫀”
According to TMZ, Oakland PD and Fire Dept. responded to a 911 call made around 11:30 AM Monday by the star’s mother, who reported a "possible overdose," and said Angus did not have a pulse.
A statement from the family revealed that Cloud had been struggling with grief following his father’s death.
“It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today,” it read.
“As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways.”
The statement continued: “Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend."
“Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence. We hope the world remembers him for his humour, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss.”
Along with his role on the HBO series Euphoria, Cloud was renowned for his appearances in music videos, including Juice WRLD’s Cigarettes, Becky G and Karol G’s Miamiii, and Noah Cyrus’ All Three.
Cloud found fame after he was cast as Fez in the gritty teen drama by casting agent Jennifer Venditti after she scouted him walking through New York City.
“I really had no idea what I was getting into,” he told Paper magazine of the casting in 2019.
“I’m like, you guys really think I’m going to be in this? We’ll see.”
Cloud also recently completed shooting Freaky Tales, a film from Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, and had been attached to an upcoming Universal monster movie (as per Consequence).
