According to Dr. Dre, 2024 is shaping up to be an excellent year for Eminem fans. The Lose Yourself rapper has a new album “coming out this year.”

Dr. Dre signed Eminem to his label, Aftermath, in 1998 and has produced tracks on Eminem’s albums The Real Slim Shady, the Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show, Encore, Relapse, and his latest release, the January 2020 surprise album, Music To Be Murdered By. So, it’s fair to say that, as Eminem’s longtime collaborator, Dr. Dre knows what he’s up to.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday (19 March) – the day he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with Eminem, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent by his side – Dr. Dre revealed that Eminem had given his blessing to share the news about his new album.

“Eminem is working on his own album, which is coming out this year,” Dr. Dre said. “I actually talked to him, and he said it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show. So, he has an album coming out. I’ve got songs on it, and it’s fire.”

The rapper and record producer added, “I’m actually gonna hear the entire album for the first time tomorrow. He holds his music close to his chest, so I haven’t heard everything. I haven’t even heard everything complete that I’ve done, but I’m gonna hear it, and he’s putting out an album this year.”

Dr. Dre’s influence on hip-hop can’t be underestimated. After co-founding the rap group N.W.A., Dr. Dre pursued a solo career, releasing his successful debut album, The Chronic, in 1992. He then worked with Snoop Dogg, 2Pac and many more on Death Row Records, and with Aftermath, he was credited with discovering Eminem and 50 Cent.

Dr. Dre said of receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (via Billboard), “I’m most proud of elevating the sound and clarity of how we experience hip-hop. Getting that thing right is one of my greatest achievements. I love that this honour is unique to Los Angeles and brings fans from all over the world to connect with their favourite artists. I’ll be here forever.”

Last June, the rumour mill started up and suggested that Eminem is preparing his return to Australia. He last toured here in 2019, breaking the MCG’s live concert attendance record.
