Punk rock legends Descendents have cancelled their remaining upcoming European tour dates after singer Milo Aukerman suffered a mild heart attack. Luckily, Aukerman is expected to make a full recovery following surgery.
With their Australian dates not booked until October, fans down under should still expect to see Descendents at Yours & Owls festival and a run of headline shows.
“We are truly sorry, but we have to cancel the upcoming European shows,” the band wrote in a social media statement overnight.
“Our singer, Milo, had a mild heart attack last night. He’s doing fine, and is expected to make a full recovery from surgery, but will need a few weeks to recover before we can hit the road again.
“Hope to see you soon.”
According to their website, Descendents were expected to perform in France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the UK for the European festival season up until Saturday, 5 August. At the time of writing, their next show is expected to occur on Saturday, 12 August, in Portland, Oregon.

Descendents will return to Australia for the first time in six years later this year. The Australian and New Zealand tour begins at Auckland’s Powerstation on 11 October, followed by Brisbane’s Princess Theatre, Yours & Owls, Sydney’s Metro Theatre, Adelaide’s The Gov, Melbourne’s Forum, and the Torquay Hotel. Local openers will join the band at all shows.
Upon the band’s most recent visit to Australia in February 2017, The Music remarked that the show was a “masterclass”. Reviewer Mark Hebblewhite added, “It may only be February, but I can’t see any punk or hardcore band (let alone any other musician, quite frankly) topping this show for the rest of the year.”
