Australian pop music royalty Delta Goodrem has gotten engaged to her longtime partner and guitarist, Matthew Copley.
Announcing the huge personal news on Instagram yesterday (21 September), the Born To Try singer posted a photo of herself and Copley kissing overlooking the sunset in Malta. If you zoom into the picture, you can see the engagement ring on her finger. She also shared a video where you can take a closer look at the large, beautiful ring.
In the caption, she wrote, “My best friend asked me to marry him”, to which she obviously said yes.
The happy couple have received congratulatory messages from Noiseworks’ Jon Stevens, Amy Shark, Sister2Sister’s Christine Muscat, Australian entertainment reporter Renee Bargh, singers Calum Scott and Conrad Sewell, presenter Lisa Wilkinson, Lisa Origliasso (of The Veronicas fame), Samantha Jade, and many more.
In a previous interview with Australian Women’s Weekly, Goodrem remarked that it’s “incredible” to share the stage with her now-fiancé and added, “We really are a team. He's my best friend; he's kind and just a beautiful human being.”
Mamamia reports that the pair have been dating since 2017 and went public with their relationship in 2018.

In August, Goodrem released the sunny, uplifting single, Back To Your Heart – her first new music since her #1 ARIA charting album, Bridge Over Troubled Dreams, was released in 2021. The song arrived just weeks before the release date for the Netflix film Love Is In The Air, in which Goodrem stars alongside Joshua Sasse, was revealed. The movie hits our screens on Thursday, 28 September.
In addition to a new single and film, Goodrem has started her own independent label, ATLED Records.
She wrote in a social media statement, “I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude towards the incredible community that has supported me for over two decades. But times have changed, and so have I. It’s a new era, new world, with endless possibilities - so I created a new home for my music. Welcome to ATLED Records.”
