Deborah Conway To Release Autobiography

“You think you know Deborah Conway?” That’s the question the Australian singer’s new autobiography asks. Her memoir, Book Of Life, will be released on Tuesday, 3 October, via the publishers Allen & Unwin.

Her debut book release is described as “A no-holds-barred memoir that charts the rise and fall - and rise - of one of Australia's most iconic music performers.”

Book Of Life will find Conway pulling back the curtain on the country’s 80s post-punk scene while in the band Do-Ré-Mi, her solo career, and her longstanding collaborative journey with husband Willy Zygier.

To celebrate her becoming an author, Conway and Zygier will embark on a musical theatre journey entitled Songs From The Book Of Life this September and October, with the Australian tour based around the memoir.

“Deborah Conway and Willy Zygier play themselves (mostly) as they go back through their own story of youth, rebellion, falling in love, aging, money and music,” a blurb states on her website. “Songs From The Book Of Life is a bold tour-de-force told with unflinching honesty, humour, revelation, and a reflexive desire to let it all hang out.”

To put on the show, Conway and Zygier will team up with director Michael Kantor, set designer Chloe Greaves, video designer Nick Roux, lighting designer Stephen Hawker, sound designer Siiri Metsar and choreographer Stephanie Lake.

The tour begins at Brisbane Festival this September, followed by a run of shows at the Fairfax Theatre Arts Centre in Melbourne and HOTA on the Gold Coast. You can find tickets here.

Last year, Deborah Conway was inducted into the Music Victoria Hall Of Fame. Paul Kelly had the honour of inducting the iconic musician.
