Boy George is bringing Culture Club back to Australia this September, with fellow 80s pop music sensation Berlin on board to open all shows.
The Culture Club Greatest Hits Tour kicks off at Perth’s RAC Arena on 5 September, then heads to Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on 8 September, Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on 9 September, Adelaide Entertainment Centre on 11 September and concludes at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on 14 September.
The Telstra pre-sale begins on Monday, 17 April, at 10 am local time, with general tickets for sale next Friday, 21 April, at 10 am local time through Ticketek.
The iconic UK group’s debut album, Kissing To Be Clever, was released in 1982 and, to date, has sold over 500 million copies worldwide.
The record boasted the massive singles Karma Chameleon, Do You Really Want To Hurt Me, and Time (Clock Of The Heart).
Berlin had found success before they took flight in Top Gun, but Take My Breath Away truly catapulted the LA-based group to another stratosphere. The song was a #1 international hit and received both the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1986.
Terri Nunn said about the support slot, “We are OVER THE MOON to be joining Culture Club on this tour! We absolutely love Australia and its amazing people. Can’t wait to see you!”
Boy George & Culture Club added, “Hello you beautiful Australians! We’re so excited to announce that we’re going on our Greatest Hits tour this September.”
In a review of the band’s 2017 show at Perth Arena, The Music noted, “80s sentimentality may be so hot right now, but tonight all acts (Culture Club, Human League, Tom Bailey of the Thompson Twins and Hoseah Partsch) delivered lasting smiles.”
Will Culture Club deliver those same lasting smiles this September?
