Cradle Of Filth's Guitarist & Keyboardist Are Engaged
The New Year signalled love and joy for Cradle Of Filth.

The New Year has kicked off with love and joy for extreme death metal band Cradle Of Filth, as guitarist Marek “Ashok” Šmerda and keyboardist/vocalist Zoë Marie Federoff are getting married.
Federoff broke the news in a cheerful New Year post on Instagram. Sharing two photos of the loved-up couple, she wrote in the caption, “Happy New Year from a Šmerda and a future Šmerda - 2024 will be the last year the name ‘Zoë Federoff’ exists. 💍Forever isn’t long enough. ✨ #HappyNewYear #AreWeThereYet”.
Federoff joined Cradle Of Filth in 2022, taking over an often-rotating position in the band that followed the departure of Annabelle Iratni. Ashok has been a member of the band since 2014 and has played on the band’s three most recent albums – 2015’s Hammer Of The Witches, 2017’s Cryptoriana – The Seductiveness Of Decay, and 2021’s Existence Is Futile.
While celebrating their future marriage and the New Year should be all about happiness and congratulations, overnight, Federoff took to social media to clear up “strange rumours and stories” their engagement announcement was met with.
“I never knew Ashok before I joined CoF. He had nothing to do with me coming on board,” she wrote.
“I have already written some material for the next CoF album so clearly our engagement has nothing to do with my continued stay in this band.”

Federoff continued, “We have no plans to leave CoF as we truly enjoy working together, not to mention working with several of our closest friends. Dani [Filth, vocals] has been the greatest and most supportive leader possible when it comes to our engagement.
“We remain happily committed to his team in CoF. Now please - stop speculating and spreading rumours and let’s celebrate all the good things happening this year!”
Last May, Cradle Of Filth revealed they were in the studio working on their 14th album, with drummer Martin “Marthus” Škaroupka wrapping his parts.
The news about Cradle Of Filth cooking up something devilish in the studio arrived a month after the band released their second-ever live album, Trouble And Their Double Lives. The live album was recorded between 2014 and 2019, with most performances taking place in the US, Europe, Australia and beyond during their Cryptoriana World Tour.
Between live albums, engagements, new music, and an expansive European tour, some fans are still awaiting Dani Filth’s reported collaboration with Ed Sheeran.
