Aussies Julia Jacklin and Courtney Barnett feature on a massive album with benefits going to charity, Noise For Now Vol. 2.
The album finds the Australian artists, alongside David Byrne (of Talking Heads fame) collaborating with Devo, plus acts including The War On Drugs, Faye Webster, Big Freedia, Becca Mancari, and more, on an 11-track release supporting independent abortion providers across the US.
The album’s impressive line-up was revealed in late March ahead of today’s release, with the announcement landing on the day the Supreme Court heard arguments to lessen accessibility and availability of the abortion pill, mifepristone, via Billboard.
Proceeds from the album are going to abortion providers via Keep Our Clinics.
The release date is also significant, as it marks the second anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade in the Supreme Court. The removal of that amendment means that the federal government no longer protects abortion in the US, and as of November, abortion became illegal in 14 US states.

Noise For Now executive director Amelia Bauer expressed gratitude to the artists for their contributions to the album and stated: “We know that when the artists and performers we love speak openly and unapologetically about abortion, abortion is stripped of its stigma.
“We believe that we can shape our future with art, community, and collective action.”
For the album, artists perform covers and rarities, with Jacklin putting her spin on Catatonia’s Dead From The Waist Down, Barnett sharing a demo of Boxing Day Blues, and David Byrne and Devo bringing out the rarity, Empire.
