Corey Taylor has released a new rocking, grunge-inspired new single, Talk Sick, ahead of his appearance at Good Things Festival this December. It’s the third single from his new solo album, CMF2, to be released on Friday, 15 September.
The official video (or lyric video) features Taylor’s raspy singing voice, some wailing guitars, and two guitar solos. It’s a great rock song guaranteed to rile up Australian audiences this summer.
“There’s an element of spiritual regurgitation, trying to purge yourself of demons that have been clinging to you because of prior relationships, romantic or otherwise,” Taylor explained about the track’s lyrical content in a press release (per Consequence Of Sound).
“You realise those people bring a certain asshole side out of you that you don’t necessarily want in your life. It’s about trying to lance that boil and get that sickness out of you.”
He also discussed the addictive opening guitar riff, referencing an old Steve Albini trick that involved having the guitar played through “a speaker about the size of a coffee cup”. You can watch the Talk Sick video below.
Talk Sick follows two previously released singles, Post-Traumatic Blues and Beyond. On the former, Taylor found the sweet spot between the bands he sings and screams in, Slipknot and Stone Sour, nailing the latter’s melodic sensibilities beside some heaviness.

CMF2 follows Taylor’s 2020 debut solo album, CMFT, which peaked at #8 in Australia. “My first solo album was kind of where I was coming from. This album is more where we're going,” Taylor said.
CMF2 is Taylor’s first album to be released through BMG and the first on his own label imprint, Decibel Cooper Recordings. You can pre-order CMF2 here.
