The tour of a lifetime is finally here. On Saturday (5 October), Cold Chisel kickstarted their The Big Five-0 Australian tour with a bang, performing at Petersons Winery in Armidale, NSW, with special guests The Cruel Sea, Birds Of Tokyo, The Superjesus, and Karen Lee Andrews.
The first of 23 dates in Australia – Cold Chisel will also play three shows in New Zealand – followed a warm-up show last Wednesday (2 October), where the band reprised their old rehearsal name, The Barking Spiders, for a gig of old tunes.
However, the setlist for the Big Five-0 tour is more balanced, showcasing the band’s extraordinary 50-year career.
If you don’t want to know which songs Cold Chisel will play at your show – we’re not sure if this set will change, as their catalogue is so huge and they’re playing for multiple nights in some cities, so some changes are possible – look away now.
Circus Animals and East were the most represented albums on Cold Chisel’s first show of the Big Five-0 tour, with the band opening with Standing On The Outside and playing classics like Bow River, Cheap Wine, Choir Girl, and When The War Is Over.
Of course, Cold Chisel have written far more great songs than those mentioned above, including Khe Sanh, Flame Trees, Breakfast At Sweethearts, Saturday Night, new song You’ve Got To Move, and more – all of which you can expect to hear at your show.

Jimmy Barnes said of the 50th-anniversary tour, “Cold Chisel are never apart. We’re as close as brothers. Some of the best moments of my life have been spent on stage with those boys, and I hope we keep going ‘til the day we drop.
“The Big Five-0 is a landmark moment. There have been plenty of times where I never thought I’d live to see this day, so I’m going to make the most of it. I can’t wait to celebrate with my mates and with all the fans who have been such a big part of our story. We’re gonna smash it!”
