More Circa Waves More Circa Waves

Indie rock band Circa Waves have postponed a bunch of UK shows following vocalist Kieran Shudall getting admitted to hospital.

The singer has been diagnosed with viral pericarditis, so their gigs taking place at the PRYZM Kingston nightclub (12 January) and further shows this week in Bournemouth, Brighton and Totnes have been postponed.

Shudall wrote on Twitter: "Unfortunately, I was recently admitted to hospital with very unpleasant chest pains and was diagnosed with viral pericarditis which is inflammation around the heart. I’m feeling pretty rough but have been given some strong meds (god bless the NHS)."

He added, "I currently couldn’t get through a gig even if I wanted to, and believe me I really fucking want to! So with this, I’m sorry to say we are going to rearrange our four album launch shows in Kingston, Bournemouth, Brighton and Totnes. We will rearrange these ASAP and won’t keep you waiting too long. I’m going to get myself better and be back in action in a weeks time. So sorry to let you down."

Circa Waves have remained steady on the Radio Monitor Hot 50 chart for weeks, as their collaboration with Peking Duk, Spend It, sounds like a song Aussies can't get enough of.

"I suppose, Circa Waves is the biggest lie I’ve ever told. When we started, I just recorded a demo at home but I recorded it as if it was a whole band. I basically did all the bass and drums and guitars and stuff, so then I put it out as if Circa Waves was this new band and then people started calling when it got played by Zane Lowe on Radio 1," Shudall told The Music in Two Truths & A Lie while promoting their third album, What’s It Like Over There?

This Friday, Circa Waves will release their fifth album, Never Going Under.
