It's long overdue.
US singer songwriter Christopher Cross has announced he will embark on a headline Australian tour this year for the first time in two decades.
The Grammy Award-winning artist will make his way to the country this September for shows in Tweed Heads, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, New Lambton, Nowra, Wollongong, Campbelltown and Canberra.
The run will come in support of Cross' forthcoming album (release date yet to be announced) and the first since 2014's Secret Ladder.
"Many fans have been asking for a guitar-centric album, and this is my answer," Cross said of the forthcoming LP.

"The first song I wrote and recorded as tribute to my mentor Joni Mitchell, called Roberta. The remaining tracks are in much the same 'pseudo instrumental' style.
"The album will have 12 tracks and will feature me on guitar, Andy Suzuki on sax, and Eddy Hobizal on keys. Will Lee and Keith Carlock will reprise their amazing bass and drum roles that you heard on Secret Ladder."
General public tickets for the tour go on sale from Monday, 26 June.
