UPDATE:
Detroit medical examiners have confirmed that Cornell's cause of death was ruled suicide by hanging.
As BBC reports, the Wayne Country Medical Examiner's Office finished the preliminary autopsy on Cornell but "a full autopsy report has not yet been completed".

A spokesperson confirmed, "He was found on the bathroom floor, our medical unit were called and he was pronounced dead on scene.
"There is no additional information at this time."
According to local Detroit news, the lauded singer was found dead with a "band" around his neck at his hotel, the MGM Grand.
The band have cancelled two festivals they were due to play this week — Pointfest in Missouri on Saturday (local time) and Rock On The Range in Ohio.

US rock icon Chris Cornell has reportedly passed away aged 52, only hours after performing with Soundgarden in Detroit.
According to ABC, the passing of the Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman was confirmed by his representatives and is said to have been "sudden and unexpected", with no cause of death yet determined.
Cornell last visited Australia in 2015, performing with Soundgarden on Soundwave before returning for a solo acoustic tour.
