Can you believe that we’ve gotten to 2023, and we’re just now nearing the first-ever Cher Christmas album? It feels like Cher meets Christmas was meant to be.

In just two weeks – Friday, 20 October, Cher will release the merry, somewhat rock and roll LP Christmas, which arrives with a stacked list of collaborators via Warner Music Australia. You can listen to the first single (and first song on the album), DJ Play A Christmas Song, below.

DJ Play A Christmas Song was written by Sara Hudson (Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, Troye Sivan), who co-wrote four songs on the album alongside her team.

On Christmas, Cher will be accompanied by an array of special guests, going from surprising to old friends celebrating the festive season by her side. The album was produced by her longtime collaborator, Mark Taylor (Believe, Burlesque OST, Closer To The Truth).

Stevie Wonder leads the list of special guest stars on the duet, What Christmas Means To Me, while Darlene Love joins Cher on Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). Home stars co-writer and duet partner Michael Bublé, Tyga features on the unexpected collaboration Drop Top Sleigh Ride, and Cyndi Lauper shines on Put A Little Holiday In Your Heart. You can pre-order Christmas here.

“I never say this about my own records, but I’m really proud of this one. It is one of the most amazing highlights of my career,” Cher said about her first new album in five years.

On the partnership with Stevie Wonder, she added, “Every time I hear that harmonica, I’m a teenager again. It’s a personal dream come true for me to record this song with Stevie.”

In addition to her Christmas release, Cher is commemorating the 25th anniversary of her groundbreaking 1998 LP, Believe, with a Deluxe Edition of the album sold via Warner Music Australia. You can pre-order your copy here.

In July, DMA’S’ cover of Believe was voted Australia’s favourite Like A Version on triple j’s Hottest 100 of its iconic cover series.

DMA’s Like A Version first aired back in 2016, which gained significant praise for their enchanting performance of the influential track. The band said about the win, “It’s daunting doing Like A Version - what it has become has been so amazing. Listening to it today, there are so many great covers in there. I’m speechless.”
