Casey Barnes, Wildheart, Tijuana Cartel & More Win At Gold Coast Music Awards

Back for its eighth year, the Gold Coast Music Awards were held on Saturday afternoon to celebrate the vivid and diverse music scene that resides on its golden shores. 

Casey Barnes was the clear winner of this year's celebration, winning the Artist of the Year award for the third time in a row and earning a place in the Hall of Fame. Barnes is the second artist, after Amy Shark, to be awarded the prestigious induction. 

Michael Chugg AM, Executive Chairman of Chugg Entertainment, said: “Chugg Music are proud to congratulate Casey Barnes on receiving the award for Artist of the Year and for achieving Hall of Fame status from the GCMAs.

“It’s been an amazing three years with Casey as he has risen into the ranks of Australia’s premier Country performers both here and in America. We would also like to congratulate the team at the GCMA for the incredible yearly event, which is doing so much for Queensland performers & the Music industry.”

Other winners of the afternoon included Wildheart, who received the highest number of award nominations, taking out Release of the Year with Global Crisis. Breakout Artist of the Year went to Buttered, while Tijuana Cartel took out Live Act of the Year.

Sofia Isella was awarded Musician of the Year, Eliza & The Delusionals for Song Of The Year and Lily Grace for Burleigh Brewing People’s Choice Award.

“It was such a close call for the judges in many of the categories, it truly becomes more and more challenging each year to select finalists and winners. The winners announced today are all very deserving of the accolade and we’re especially thrilled to announce that Casey will be inducted into the Gold Coast Music Hall of Fame. We look forward to seeing his star continue to rise.”
