"I am humbled to have met them and have our connection immortalised in music forever!"
Darwin artist Caiti Baker has today released her new single Worth It in collaboration with the forthcoming Birds Eye View podcast.
The podcast was recorded by the women of the Darwin Correctional Centre, with Baker’s single also partially recorded within the centre.
Worth It will serve as the podcast's theme song and a portion of the royalties will be donated to the Woman Of Worth program run by the YWCA in Darwin. The single will also feature on her upcoming collection Mary Of The North.
The first five episodes of the ten-part series will be launched on International Women's Day this Sunday 8 March. It will also feature music from Emily Wurramara, Stevie Jean, Serina Pech, Kardajala Kirridarra and more.
“I spent time in the Correctional Centre working with the women, teaching them the song, listening to their stories and performing for them,” Baker said of the new track.

"I recorded them singing in the library and in a toilet because the acoustics were amazing! Just picture fifteen women crowded into a disabled toilet room singing, ‘Will we ever know, will we ever know? If it was all worth it!’”
"Worth It wouldn't be the song that it is if it weren't for the inspiring women who participated in the creation of the Birds Eye View podcast," she continued.
"Their voices, their percussion and their spirit shine through Worth It and I am humbled to have met them and have our connection immortalised in music forever!"
Worth It will be officially celebrated tonight at a single launch party in Darwin, before Baker heads out on a nationwide tour next month supporting George Benson.
