Bruce Springsteen Clears 2023 Calendar To Deal With Ongoing Health Issue

Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band have postponed the remainder of their 2023 tour dates – after already rescheduling their September tour dates – as the Glory Days singer fights off a peptic stomach ulcer.

While the rock and roll icon continues to “recover steadily” and will keep receiving treatment for the rest of the year on doctor’s advice, all of the group’s remaining tour dates for this year have been postponed to 2024 out of “an abundance of caution”.

Springsteen and his band will reveal the new, postponed dates next week. To the delight of ticketholders, the new dates will occur at the original booked venues.

“When the new 2024 dates are announced, those unable to attend on the new date who purchased their tickets through official ticketing companies have 30 days to request a refund,” a statement from the band reads. “All tickets for postponed performances will remain valid for the newly announced dates.”

In a personal statement, Springsteen added, “Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support. I'm on the mend and can't wait to see you all next year.”

According to the US National Institute of Health, Springsteen’s peptic stomach ulcer is painful and characterised by “discontinuation in the inner lining of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract because of gastric acid secretion or pepsin”.

We hope Springsteen’s recovery continues smoothly.

In August, departing AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan revealed that Bruce Springsteen was his bucket list artist to play at the 2023 AFL Grand Final.

“I can rule him out – we offered him the kitchen sink, and he's not available,” McLachlan shared on Neil Mitchell’s morning 3AW show. “So we're working back from Bruce Springsteen this year.”

Mitchell, in apparent shock, responded, “Seriously? Did you offer a return or not?”

“He was certainly sounded out, and they offered him money we couldn't afford, and that still didn't tick the box,” McLachlan said.

The AFL ended up locking in another group of rock legends, KISS, for this Saturday’s Grand Final showdown between Collingwood and Brisbane.
