Brisbane’s storied Regatta Hotel (also known fondly as The Regatta) is set to celebrate 150 years as a cultural landmark this weekend, going all-out on a free three-day showcase of Brissy bands, booze and buzz.
For most Brisbanites, the stately Regatta Hotel is a cultural landmark, eloquently lining Coronation Drive on the outskirts of the city.
The three-storey pub has been generating yarns on its wraparound verandahs for over a century and will celebrate its foundations, which were built as far back as 1874. Other heritage hotspots for music and entertainment in Brisbane include the recently revamped Princess Theatre (1888) and the Brisbane Powerhouse (circa 1920s).
Dubbed the Laneway Festival, The Regatta’s bustling music performances will take place this weekend from work knockoff at 4 pm Friday, September 13th, all the way to the dusky weekend close on Sunday 15th. This vibrant event will see The Regatta's outdoor laneway fill into a lively hub of music and food, complete with views of the Brisbane River if you’re lucky.
Headlining the event is Yuwi-based artist Tia Gostelow. She rose to fame in 2018 with her debut album, Thick Skin, and has since enjoyed a handful of accolades from the QMAs and AIR Awards.
Also on the bill are indie sweethearts JUNO, who have already kicked off September with performances at BIGSOUND and Sweet Relief! Festival.
