#bravetheday to bring hope and help to put-upon souls

More Like Thieves More Like Thieves

Queensland rockers Like Thieves are turning their tunes into a good cause with the announcement of their #bravetheday campaign against bullying.

Deriving its name from the band's recent single Brave The Day, the campaign calls upon fans to show their support by raising awareness about the issue of bullying through the use of the #bravetheday tag on social media.

Specifically, the band are asking supporters to take a selfie, video clip or simply make a social media post  about your experiences with bullying – what words or actions have hurt you the most – on any platform that supports hashtags (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr) accompanied by “#bravetheday”.

If you're not comfortable sharing intimate details about your negative past experiences with strangers, that's totally fine, too – simply go the selfie route while holding up a #bravetheday sign and tag it as such to lend your support.

Currently on tour with Dead Letter Circus, Like Thieves are putting their heart and souls into this campaign, and for good reason – bullying is an issue that affects one in every four Australian students, according to parenting hub Kidspot, and its severity is only increasing as online channels afford anonymity for bullies and constant access to their victims.

In participating in the campaign, please be aware of the sensitivity of the issue. Deliberately incendiary posts or material flies in direct contravention to the initiative's values of integrity, honesty and sensitivity, and will not be tolerated.

“We want to make a positive change” band frontman Clint Boge said of the campaign.

“We all have a voice on social media. Sometimes it can be used as a tool of hatred and bullying; we want to use it as a tool for change”
