At midnight, Bring Me The Horizon surprise released their new album, POST HUMAN: NeX GEn.
The follow-up to 2020’s Post Human: Survival Horror – and the second of four albums in the Post Human series – fans have been waiting for this release since it was indefinitely postponed last August (it was originally set for September 2023).
POST HUMAN: NeX GEn was announced in June 2023, before the band postponed the release due to “unforeseen circumstances” that left them “unable to complete the record to the standard we'd be happy with”.
Six singles preceded the release of POST HUMAN: NeX GEn: lead single Die4u in September 2021, Strangers in July 2022, Lost in May 2023, Amen featuring Daryl Palumbo of Glassjaw fame and Lil Uzi Vert in June 2023, Darkside in October 2023, and final single Kool-Aid in January 2024. In between the single drops, keyboardist Jordan Fish departed the band in December 2023.
The band announced the official release of the long-awaited album on social media last night. They dropped a teaser video with animated visuals, symphonic music, and vocalist Oli Sykes’s snarls. A digital voice then said, “Let’s begin.”
Bring Me The Horizon captioned the video, “BMTH invites you to Ascend!+ POST HUMAN: NeX GEn [out midnight 24.05]”.

Stating that the album took “ages to write”, Sykes added: “It's a real concept album, with a full narrative that connects to the first record, but the concept is hidden and buried.
“Some people aren’t going to be interested, but for some people, it could be like a self-help book. There’s a lot of things in there, some of it’s quite clear, but a lot of it cryptic and hidden. People are gonna have to work it out.”
