"The approach for the next AB record is way more considered."
Their 2016 debut album, Reclaim Australia, was one of the country's most talked about records in the last decade and AB Original are now back in the studio working on the follow-up LP.
Appearing on the latest episode of The Music Podcast, Briggs told host Neil Griffiths he and Trials are working on releasing a new album in 2020.
"We're working on it, we've been working on it," he said.
"It's just now, it's more considered. The approach for the next AB record is way more considered."
On when fans can expect to hear a taste of the record, Briggs said, "We'll definitely do something this year, album [will be out] 2020.
"Me and Trials hang out too much for something not to happen."

Following its release, Reclaim Australia quickly garnered acclaim from critics and fans. As well, as winning the 2016 Australian Music Prize and triple j's Australian Album Of The Year in 2017, AB Original dominated the 2017 AIR Awards, won two ARIA Awards and took out Songwriter Of The Year at last year's APRA Awards.
Their song January 26 also charted at #6 on triple j's Hottest 100 in 2017.
Despite the enormous success, Briggs told Griffiths that AB Original was initially only meant to be a collaborative effort between Trials and himself for his own album.
"The AB Original was originally the next batch of Briggs stuff," he said.
"Trials, who I work with all the time, we decided to make a collaborative effort... we made an EP over a weekend, I think. We sent that off to our mates, and they were like 'You should make this an album'.
"[Reclaim Australia] took on a life of its own. That was way bigger than what either of us thought was going to happen. It happened all organically. All the parts of the machine were there... but the intention for the reach of that record was never to be the multi-award winning opus or anything like that. There is no rhymes written down for that record. I recorded everything on the spot whatever was happening that day in my head. No changes."
