Briggs, new supergroup 3% and DJ Cyril lead this year’s Dreamtime At The G match.
On Saturday, 25 May, this year’s Dreamtime At The G marks the 20th anniversary of the celebration and commemoration of Indigenous culture as the AFL puts on a show with a match between Richmond and Essendon.
Like previous iterations of the game, the AFL has locked in brilliant musical talent to take to the hallowed ground of the MCG both before the game and at half-time. In addition to music, the AFL has locked in a performance of light, smoke, and movement.
This Saturday, Briggs is set to narrate the cultural journey of the pre-match entertainment while performances will be led by supergroup 3% - starring triple j Blak Out host Nooky, Noongar rapper Dallas Woods, and Gumbaynggirr singer Angus Field - Wurundjeri female dance group Djirri Djirri, performers from the Wulumbarra, Koorie Youth Will Shake Spear, and Bandok Tati groups and the Dreamtime Contemporary Dancers.
Wurundjeri Elder Uncle Colin Hunter Jnr will begin the proceedings with a Welcome To Country, and DJ Cyril will perform as part of the game’s half-time entertainment.
In a statement, Dallas Woods said of performing at the Dreamtime At The G match, “From the club war cry performances to the annual Long Walk, the Dreamtime game is one of the biggest events on the mob calendar, bringing all mobs together and showcasing our culture and spirit to the world. It’s such an honour for us to share and perform on this epic stage. All our personal tribes will be watching with pride. See you soon, Naarm.”

Last week, 3% shared their most poignant song to date, Coming Home. An ode to the band’s connection to their country, their families and their mental health, Coming Home is built around a sample from Royal Telephone – the 1963 hit from Nowra legend Jimmy Little and the first song by an Indigenous artist to reach the mainstream (and top radio charts) – and also features a showstopping guest spot from Nooky’s daughter, Calula Webster.
