Legendary German-Caribbean group Boney M will return to Australia in June 2024 on their Farewell tour, performing all their greatest hits with a full band and original live singer Maizie Williams.
Promising a set of greatest hits that includes Rivers Of Babylon, Rasputin, Daddy Cool, Ma Baker, Gotta Go Home and many more, the iconic disco and vocal group will begin in Perth on Tuesday, 4 June, before heading to Newcastle, Wollongong, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne, and Adelaide. Boney M will then perform two shows in Wellington and Auckland, New Zealand. You can find all the tour dates below.
The pre-sale begins on Wednesday, 6 September, at 9 am AEST, followed by a public ticket sale on Friday, 8 September, at 9 am AEST. Tickets will be sold via Metropolis Touring, with VIP packages to be made available.
Boney M last toured Australia in October 2018. The Covid-19 pandemic thwarted their scheduled 2020 visit, but here’s what The Music reviewer Ben E Webbs had to say about the band’s show at Adelaide’s The Gov:
“Williams brings an uninhibited disco party. She might have been more seen than heard back in the 1970s, but in the 21st century, her version of Boney M is absolutely the one to see.” Webbs added that, “The arrangements were familiar and faithful, and slow-ish numbers like No Woman No Cry became jubilant singalongs”.
Webbs noted that few in the audience would know or care) about Boney M’s patchy, fabricated and litigious history, but those who did weren’t letting it get in the way of a damn good party of classic tunes.
