A film about late AC/DC vocalist Bon Scott is coming to cinemas, and an impressive young Aussie actor will portray the superstar.
Lee Tiger Halley, an actor who recently experienced his breakout role in the hit Netflix series based on the book of the same name, Boy Swallows Universe, will step into the shoes of Scott.
In Boy Swallows Universe, Halley plays Gus, the older brother of lead protagonist Eli Bell. His journey is interesting, as he goes from a misunderstood character to one of the show’s heroes over seven episodes. You can watch a trailer for the series below.
A Fremantle lad himself, Halley was chosen based on his magnetism, which has been compared to Bon Scott. The film, The Kid From Harvest Road, is currently under development, with production due to begin in early 2025.
The film is set to follow a young Bon Scott on the streets of Fremantle, WA, in 1963, with storylines set to showcase the man behind the legend.

Leading the project are renowned writer Stephen Belowsky and Co-Writer/Director David Vincent Smith, who promise to unveil “untold chapters” of the Let There Be Rock singer’s life, with no objection from the Scott estate. They’ll also be joined by producer Tim Duffy and Executive Producers Ian Hale and Nicko Mezzino.
A collaboration between HALO Films and Protocol Pictures, HALO Films’ Ian Hale said in a press release, “We are thrilled to embark on this journey to illuminate the early years of Bon Scott. His story is one of resilience, passion, and the relentless pursuit of his dreams.
“Through this film, we aim to honour his legacy and inspire audiences with the transformative power of music and determination.”
Belowsky added, “I was truly inspired by his charismatic character, but what interested me most was his early life, not the caricature we all know on stage. The teen who walked the streets of Fremantle... this is a love letter to Fremantle and Bon reimagined through the eyes of the author.”
Stay tuned for more information as it rolls in.
Earlier this year, AC/DC unveiled a new-look touring line-up starring bassist Chris Chaney (formerly of Jane’s Addiction), who’s “carrying the torch” for Cliff Williams, and the return of Matt Laug, who performed with the band on their epic return to the stage at the inaugural Power Trip festival in October.
