If you’re a NSW-based artist who has what it takes to play one of Australia’s biggest hip hop and R&B festivals, listen up.

Sydney-based record label, events and community group Bodega Collective have just announced that they’re looking to take three lucky local artists to the main stage of Listen Out Sydney.
Listen Out has hosted some of the best hip hop, R&B and electronic acts from around the world since 2013. Artists like Central Cee, Four Tet, Doja Cat, and Disclosure have taken to Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney stages over the years, with the festival expanding to Adelaide and Auckland as of 2018 with their “concentrated version” of the tour, Listen In.
While the international acts are a cherished part of the festival’s lineup every year, the appetite for local music to perform at these grand stages grows stronger and stronger as Australians fight through the temperamental state of our current music festival climate.
Thanks to a new initiative brought forth by Bodega Collective, that gap is slowly being filled. So, if you’re an artist based in NSW (or Sydney specifically) or you know an artist keen to grace the Atari stage alongside acts like Tyla and Skepta, here’s what you need to know.

Bodega Collective have hosted their own local music event, Pass The Mic, in Sydney over the years, spotlighting undiscovered artists from all over the state. If you want to wield a mic at Listen Out, naturally, the Bodega team wants to first see how good your chops are in a local setting. So here’s what to do:
Head over to their announcement post to comment on which local artist/s you want to see perform at Listen Out
Upload a reel of the song you want to play at Listen Out and tag @bodegacollective & @listenout
From there, they will sift through each application and pick 20 artists to perform at a local Pass The Mic event in Sydney on September 27th.
From the lineup, they will pick a final list of 3 artists who will evidently play the main Atari Stage at Listen Out Sydney on October 6th.
So do your vocal exercises, get filming and good luck!
