They promised they had something big...
For their third announcement, the team at Bluesfest promised that they would deliver something enormous, going so far as to say it could be one of the biggest announcements in the festival's long history. Well, it's not big on size - just five new acts have been added - but it's pretty massive in terms of the names that appear.

ROBERT PLANT:
Frontman of the band who are considered by many to be the ultimate heavy metal band, Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant could have given up decades ago and still retained an incredible legacy in the world of contemporary music. But he continued to perform, continued to reinvent himself and continued to kick arse with pretty much every musical endeavour. But if recent setlists are anything to go by it is Zeppelin that we will be celebrating at Easter, with the artist giving us the promise that we will hear plenty of tracks from the band who took the blues, cranked it up, made it all fucked up and inspired millions and millions of dudes and chicks to start rock bands. Tyagarah is going to get blown away this Easter as we all bow at the altar of one of the greatest singers that ever was as he presents his band Sensational Space Shifters.
ROGER HODGSON:
No surprise about the next one; as the co-frontman and bassist for British art-rock ensemble Supertramp, Roger Hodgson has been responsible for a monstrous number of hits. This is the guy who penned tunes like Dreamer, Give a Little Bit, The Logical Song, Breakfast in America, Take the Long Way Home and It's Raining Again, to name but a few! Hodgson has been very busy in recent years, treating Supertramp fans to a whole wealth of hits that made that band so well loved and it has just been announced that he is making his way back to Australia early next year for another trip down memory lane. His shows a couple of years back with just the one accompanist were very well received, but this time around he is bringing a full band to rock the hell out of Bluesfest.
STATUS QUO:
Forget the ad, remember the boogie. Status Quo were responsible for some of the truly great bluesy rock'n'roll songs of the 1970s to cross over into the mainstream; Rockin' All Over The World, Caroline, Whatever You Want and, yes, Down Down. The band have had over 60 tracks chart in their native UK and most of the songs from throughout their 50 year career still pack the same punch they did way back when. Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt lead the band out to Australia for a big tour that will now incorporate a set at the 2013 Bluesfest.
MADNESS:
Bluesfest have been very kind to the ska fans of Australia in recent years and this announcement is one of the biggest for fans of that style in many years. Madness burst onto the UK scene with their incredible One Step Beyond LP, featuring the title track, My Girl and The Prince and just continued to release incredibly infectious – and popular – ska music right up until 1986 when they fell apart due to musical differences. The band struck up again in 1992 and nowadays they continue to record and perform to this day with many of the key members still involved and they still sell a heap of records and get an enormous . In fact the band are releasing their tenth studio album – Oui Oui Si Si Ja Ja Da Da – in the UK today, the very same day they announce a return to Australia for Bluesfest 2013.
JON ANDERSON:
Prog rock group Yes have been blowing minds since 1968 and, up until just a few years ago, the man out the front of that band, was Mr Jon Anderson who hits Bluesfest for the very first time in 2013. This is the man who was the voice of hits such as Owner Of A Lonely Heart, Roundabout, Love Will Find Away and so many other great songs from throughout that band's career that were way too out there to ever stand a chance at being hits. He's also a prolific solo artist with 14 studio records to his name; we imagine there'll be a nice mix when he hits Bluesfest in 2013.
Bluesfest happens at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm from Thursday 28 March through to Monday 1 April. Tickets are available through the festival website.
