Bluesfest Heading To Perth In 2023

Following exciting news last week that Bluesfest would be expanding outside of Byron Bay for the first time ever and setting up in Melbourne, organisers have today confirmed a Perth event too.

The beloved celebration of blues and roots music will venture to Nikola Estate in the Swan Valley on April 1, thanks to a partnership with Mellen Events.

The first artist announcement includes headliners The Doobie Brothers alongside Counting Crows, John Butler, Jessica Mauboy, Michael Franti & Spearhead and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, with more artists to be added.

“I am so excited to be bringing Australia’s leading music festival Bluesfest Byron Bay to Perth,” Bluesfest director Peter Noble said.

“We’ll be bringing a sensational line-up of artists to the banks of the Swan River in the beautiful Swan Valley. I see Perth Bluesfest becoming an absolute must see and do on the annual events calendar.”

Mellen Events and Bluesfest Members pre-sale kicks off tomorrow, November 15, at 10am WA time, ahead of My Ticketmaster Members pre-sale on November 16 at 10am local time and general public on-sale on November 18 at 10am WA time.

Speaking to The Music last week about Bluesfest Melbourne, Noble said: “[Bluesfest Melbourne] is something I’ve always wanted to do… 23 years later, we’re actually doing it."

Noble has joined forces with Melbourne-based music industry veteran Neil Croker to present Bluesfest Melbourne.

“I’ve always wanted to do a downtown and so when the right circumstances came about, I jumped at it. I do remember back to the 2019 Bluesfest, it was the last one we got to do before COVID knocked us for a couple of years, and we sold 27,000 [sideshow] tickets in Melbourne. And I’m going, ‘That’s a festival.’

“I’ve got this sneaking suspicion that people in Melbourne just like to go out and hear music.

“I’m very, very excited – I hope you can hear that – because I’ve been wanting to do this for a very, very long time, but had to find the right partner, which I have in Neil Crocker. You always need the right man on the ground.”

Earlier this month, Bluesfest Byron Bay added music legend Beck to its already-packed line-up.
