Best-Selling Vinyl Albums Of 2023: Tame Impala, Parkway Drive & Polaris Make The List

2023 seemed to be the year that re-releases, particularly anniversary editions, dominated vinyl markets. In a new list, the 25th-anniversary edition of Goo Goo Dolls’ 90s phenomenon Dizzy Up The Girl and Green Day’s 30th-anniversary copy of the seminal Dookie stand alongside Taylor’s Version copies of 1989, Speak Now, and SZA’s SOS.

Perhaps what’s most surprising about Vinyl.com’s Top 50 Vinyl Records Released in 2023 list is who the three Aussies are: Tame Impala, Parkway Drive and Polaris. Vinyl.com buyers are into psychedelic rock and ripping metalcore! The latter two represent metal in general on the list, which is something to be proud of.

Tame Impala’s tenth anniversary 3LP edition of Lonerism is the highest-ranking Australian release on the list, landing at #15, while metal heroes Parkway Drive get to #19 with the clear/black smoke edition of their brutal 2004 offering, Don’t Close Your Eyes. Australian Music Prize nominees and growing heavyweights Polaris took the 35th spot with their newest album, Fatalism, and its clear/green/violet/curacao splatter copies.

The rest of the list is represented by The White Stripes, Barbie: The Album, Limp Bizkit, Mac Miller, Zach Bryan, Death Cab For Cutie, Fleetwood Mac, Passion Pit, Alanis Morissette, The 1975 and more.

Snapping up Vinyl.com’s Best-Selling album of 2023 was a re-release: the blue/silver 20th-anniversary edition of The Postal Service’s classic, Give Up. You can check out the list in its entirety here.

In a 2012 The Music album review of Lonerism, our staff said about the influential LP: “Lonerism is complete in every way.
