Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync & Zombies. Need More? How About New Kids On The Block?

Fans of '90s mega boy bands Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync would have either been ecstatic or horrified to hear that members from each group are teaming up to make a western zombie feature film — yes, really.

And speaking to Rolling Stone, the film's writer and star, Nick Carter, revealed he wants to add more '90s pop stars in the feature, which is to be produced by the film studio who brought you the awesomely awful Sharknado films. 

"There's a wish list of people that I want," Carter revealed. 

"I want it to be musically based. I might reach out to [Jordan Knight] from the New Kids on the Block."

While the 35-year-old singer will act as the protagonist in the film tentatively titled Dead 7 about a 'ragtag band of gunslingers' fighting a zombie plague, it has been confirmed that his fellow band mates, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean, as well as 'N Sync's Joey Fatone have also landed acting roles. 

"Movies like this can turn into cult phenomenons and that's what Sharknado happened to be," McLean said, who will star as the film's villain. 

"I watched it, I'm like, 'Okay, this is ridiculous but I'm still watching it and I think it's awesome."

And while fans will no doubt be hoping 'N Sync alumni Justin Timberlake will be approached about joining the film, Fatone said he wouldn't get his hopes up.

"I'm the only NSYNC-er as of now, but you never know," he said. 

"Nick's vision is to bring some other people in that genre that have never really done a lot of film but that were in music in the Nineties and 2000s."

The western zombie flick will be the first time after two decades that members from both of the hugely successful boy bands have come together to work on a project. 

"We've never done anything together collectively," Fatone admitted. 

"People always think [we're] some sort of rivals. But it's so funny - there's never been animosity or anything like that. Now we're setting the record straight by doing a film together."

No release date has been given for the film yet, but if they are anything like the Sharknado films, you can bet that it will be the best two hours spent watching a movie, (or worst, whichever way you look at it.)
